PONTE VEDRA BEACH -- The hole has been reviled and revered, panned and praised. It sits there, innocently enough, just 130-some yards from the tee, a large green surrounded by water. No big deal, really. Except it is. The par-3 17th at the TPC Sawgrass is undoubtedly among the most famous in golf because it for years has exposed the best players in the world as mortal during the annual Players Championship.
