Two Tampa men have been indicted on federal child pornography charges, the U.S. Attorney's Office said Friday. Brian Richard Wilcox, 49, has been charged with producing child pornography, according to the U.S. Attorney's Office. Wilcox was previously arrested by Hillsborough County sheriff's deputies on April 23 at his home, 10508 Beneva Drive, and charged him with 20 counts of possession of child pornography. Also Roger W. Stowell, 72, of 4808 Wynwood Drive, faces two federal counts of receiving child pornography. Stowell's family contacted the FBI on March 16 to report that he had numerous images of child pornography on his home computer, according to the Department of Justice. FBI agents arrested him April 8 as he returned from a trip abroad. Agents said they found him with a flash drive and laptop containing child pornography.

Man is shot by would-be robber

A Plant City man was shot while sitting outside his home Thursday night, authorities said. Francisco Javier Jose-Lopez, 21, was sitting in his patio area at 4511 Mud Lake Road, Lot 23, with a friend when a man approached them about 10 p.m. and demanded money, sheriff's officials said. The man then shot Jose-Lopez in his upper torso and ran from the scene. The assailant got away without money or valuables, said sheriff's spokeswoman Debbie Carter. Jose-Lopez was airlifted to Tampa General Hospital, where he was listed Friday in guarded condition. Anyone with any information about this incident is asked to call the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office at 247-8200 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-873-8477.

Scoutmaster jailed on lewdness charge

A Pasco County scoutmaster has been accused of repeatedly exposing himself to an 11-year-old boy during Scout activities. Steven Leroy Greenleaf, 53, of 2205 Peggy Drive, Holiday, was charged with lewd or lascivious exhibition and was being held in lieu of $20, 000 bail. Scout executive Bill Davis of the West Central Florida Council of the Boy Scouts of America did not return a phone call placed to his office late Friday afternoon. Greenleaf had been a nurse for about two years at River's Edge Pediatrics in New Port Richey, according to Dr. Kathleen Montemayor, who owns the practice. She said an attorney told her she had little choice but to fire him, even though she trusts him and does not believe the allegations.
