Bicyclists can pedal to a pair of free events

The nonprofit group Tampa BayCycle, which promotes commuting by bike, has two bike-to-work days and events scheduled this week in North Pinellas. Rides are free and open to the public.

- 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday - 12-mile group ride from downtown Dunedin to Honeymoon Island State Park and back. Meet at the Dunedin Historical Society, Historic Train Depot, 349 Main St.

- 7 a.m. Friday - Bike to work from the Ozona Post Office to downtown Dunedin via the Pinellas Trail. Meet at the post office, 310 Orange St.

Smokey Bones stays open locally

Darden Restaurants may have shuttered 56 of its Smokey Bones restaurants - but not the one in Clearwater. The restaurant at 2693 Gulf to Bay Blvd., along with locations in Tampa, St. Petersburg and Lakeland, are among the 73 that will remain in operation as the company looks for a buyer for the chain.

Open microphone has an audience

Been looking for an audience for your poetry? Tonight's your night at the Largo Public Library, 120 Central Park Drive. Sports camp will be just for girls

Calling all girls ... to sports camp! Largo's parks department is offering an all-girls camp for 8- to 13-year-olds at Keene Terrace Baptist Church, 1901 McMullen Road. The Aug. 13-17 camp from 8 a.m. to noon will offer basketball, tennis, soccer, volleyball, fitness games and field hockey. Parade honors 90th anniversary

The City of Safety Harbor will hold a special parade at 5 p.m. Saturday to celebrate the 90th anniversary of the city's incorporation in 1917. The parade will start on Bayshore Boulevard and head west along Main Street toward City Hall and is part of Safety Harbor's May Day Celebration. Volunteers needed to deliver meals

Meals on Wheels is in desperate need of a volunteer to deliver meals in the Tarpon Springs area on Tuesdays and Fridays. The service requires roughly 90-minutes midday to pick up hot meals at the Solomon Peska Center, 432 E. Spruce St., and deliver them to homebound residents.
