Van drivers needed to deliver food to homes

Faith in Action of Upper Pinellas needs volunteers to drive their van and make food deliveries to the homebound . If you can commit five to six hours weekly, have a clean driving record and are physically able to help people with their groceries on and off the van, call 738-4307.


Knights of Columbus ready for bowl-a-thon

A.F.I.R.E. and the Father Lopez Council 5737 of the Knights of Columbus will host their 17th Annual Bowl-a-thon Sunday from 1-4 p.m. at Ten Pin Lanes, 1453 Pasadena Ave. Festivities will include an auction with items such as autographed photos of Dolly Parton, Faith Hill and Kenny Chesney, limited edition commemorative Elvis Presley wine bottles, a commemorative football of the Bucs' Super Bowl win, and more. Elks' boat ride, picnic for special needs kids

Holiday Isles Elks Lodge No. 1912 in Madeira Beach will host its annual boat ride and picnic for special needs children from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. June 16 at the lodge, 14111 E Parsley Drive. Kids will be treated to free boat rides, swimming, a cookout, clowns and other entertainment. All children must be accompanied by an adult. The Holiday Isles lodge supports several children's charities. Reserve by June 1 at 586-2170.


Golf tourney to benefit special hospital fund

Charity Golf Classic to benefit Egypt Shrine Hospital Transportation Fund will be held Saturday at Bardmoor Tennis and Golf Club, 8001 Cumberland Drive, Largo. Open registration, 11 a.m.; putting contest, 12:15 p.m.; shotgun start, 1 p.m.; awards ceremony and auction, 6-10 p.m. $100 entry fee includes green fees and range balls, golf cart, on-course beverages, awards ceremony with buffet and live reggae music, drink ticket, shirt and hat, and hole-in-one contest. An additional $25 super ticket includes two mulligans, participation in the putting contest and two raffle tickets. Tickets to attend just the dinner and awards ceremony are $30.
