Alex's Lemonade sites set for Saturday sales

SPRING HILL

The Mother's Club of Hernando County will host Alex's Lemonade Stand on Saturday at these locations: 8 a.m. to noon, Veterans Memorial Park, 12254 Spring Hill Drive; and 2 to 6 p.m., Wal-Mart Supercenter, 13300 Cortez Blvd. All money raised will go to Alex's Lemonade Stand Foundation, a national foundation that raises money for pediatric cancer research. New shopping center will include JCPenney

Yet another shopping center got under way this week with the ground-breaking for Nature Coast Commons, a 350, 000-square-foot retail center anchored by JCPenney, announced developer Opus South. The plaza, with a projected completion date of early 2008, is on 42 acres on U.S. 19 south of Spring Hill Drive. The JCPenney store will take up 104, 000 square feet of the plaza. Other retailers projected for the project include an electronics retailer, a book store, a grocery store, an arts and crafts retailer and fashion stores. Outparcels would accommodate restaurants, a coffee shop and a bank, among other retailers.

Green project planned for botanical gardens

The "Renaissance in the Gardens, " a planting of Florida-friendly plants at the Nature Coast Botanical Gardens, will be from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday The gardens are at 1489 Parker Ave. Volunteers are needed to help with planting. Before starting work, volunteers will be treated to a continental breakfast, followed by programs, displays and information on Florida-friendly planting.
