For her new book If They Only Listened to Us: What Women Voters Want Politicians to Hear, Melinda Henneberger, political editor of the online Huffington Post, talked with 234 women in 20 states, blue and red.
What's on your nightstand?
A Tale of Two Cities.
Have you always been a Dickens fan?
I'm reading this now because of a recent trip to Paris. The visit put me in the mood for the French Revolution.
Are you interested in any contemporary authors?
I know most women don't like Philip Roth (Everyman), but I am an exception.
Who inspired you to become a writer?
My Uncle Bob. He was a lawyer, but he also was an unpublished playwright. He gave me things to read when I was very young, like when I was 3. He encouraged me to bat around my ideas.
