TARPON SPRINGS - Palm Harbor University coach Pete Just has something to look forward to over the next three months.

The Hurricanes defeated Tarpon Springs 20-13 Friday night with the varsity leading 20-7 after three quarters.

"I was pleased with our effort tonight, " Just said. "Spring is all about trying to learn and trying to pick up the system as quickly as possible."

Just appears to have a new favorite word for the upcoming season: Shelton. Quarterback Sean Shelton, a junior, threw for 188 yards, including a 50-yard touchdown to Kevin Dickinson. Running back Ryan Shelton gained 50 yards. The Sheltons combined for 238 of Palm Harbor U.'s 258 varsity offensive yards.

The Spongers started their night with a nine-play, 60-yard drive to the 2, but an unsportsmanlike conduct penalty hindered the effort and a lost fumble ended the drive. Tarpon also ended its third and sixth drives on fumbles.

On a positive note, Marcell Lewis had 80 yards rushing in the first quarter.
