Published May 20, 2007

ST. PETERSBURG - A day of extreme sports and music comes to St. Petersburg's waterfront Saturday at the Memorial Day Backyard BBQ.

Teens and their families can spend the day watching jaw-dropping extreme sports demonstrations, listening to local and national bands, munching a variety of treats and testing their stamina and skills at the TASCO Extreme Playground.

Demonstrations of Big Air Moto-X, Halfpipe with Pro Skateboarders and BMX will be held throughout the day. The Style and Sound Car and Truck Show will be held from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Attendees will be able to compete in volleyball and video game tournaments, or try the rock wall, bungee jump, Bocci ball or horseshoes. Also, a special Battle of the Teen Bands will run from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

The event is sponsored by TASCO, the city of St. Petersburg's Teen program, which offers development programs for teens in grades 6-12.
