BROOKSVILLE - A 31-year-old Tampa man held two acquaintances at gunpoint in their own home, where he forced one victim to perform numerous sex acts during a 14-hour ordeal that ended early Wednesday, according to authorities.
George L. Olmo, a maintenance worker in the Hillsborough County School System, was arrested Friday after being released from the hospital, where he was treated for ingesting drugs. He was charged with 10 counts, including stalking, kidnapping, armed burglary, aggravated assault and rape, reports show.
Hernando sheriff's investigators say the incident began at 11 a.m. Tuesday, when Olmo arrived at the victims' house west of Brooksville near Brookridge, pulled his car into the garage and closed the garage door. A man who lived at the home confronted Olmo, who pulled a .38-caliber, semiautomatic pistol and ordered him to the ground, authorities say.
After tying the man up in the garage, Olmo entered the residence and waited for a 29-year-old woman to come inside from mowing the back yard, reports say.
When she did, Olmo bound her and ordered her into the master bedroom, forcing her to strip naked, authorities say. Then he retrieved the man from the garage and put him in the bedroom closet before forcing the woman to perform various sex acts at gunpoint for several hours.
According to reports, Olmo threatened to kill both the man and the woman if they moved or tried to escape, saying he would then have no choice but to kill himself.
About 3 a.m. Wednesday, Olmo took a number of prescription pills and began to pass out, according to sheriff's reports. The woman was able to take away the gun, and the man managed to free himself from his bindings. They called 911, and the man wrestled to control Olmo until authorities arrived.
Olmo resisted deputies, who used a Taser to subdue him. One deputy received minor injuries. Olmo was being held without bail Friday at the Hernando County Jail.
The woman previously received an restraining order for domestic violence against Olmo, court records show. A Hernando Sheriff's Office spokeswoman declined to provide more details about Olmo's relationship with the victims because it would inadvertently identify them. They are not being identified because of the nature of the accusations.
A spokeswoman for Hillsborough schools said Olmo resigned Thursday. He did various maintenance at schools. He had just returned to the job three weeks ago after being on leave for disciplinary reasons, records show.
