Coach: Harry Hubbard (6th season, 30-21)
2006 record: 4-6
District opponents: Armwood, Freedom, Hillsborough, Tampa Bay Tech
Jamboree result: Lost to Chamberlain 7-6.
Who's gone: PK Johan Bos, RB/WR Andreas Harris, WR Javarous Martin, DB Sherod Murdock, OL Joe White
Who's back: DL Andre Coleman, RB Carlton Jones, DL Moses McCray, LB Rashaad McFadden, QB Deandre Presley, RB/DB Jarryd Reid
What's new: Everyone knows about Jones and McCray, but keep an eye on wide receiver Justen Davis, a 6-foot-4, 175-pound rising sophomore. A late-season call-up from the junior varsity last year, Davis should have an increased role in 2007. He showed some of his skills on a 55-yard touchdown reception Friday night against Chamberlain. In Davis, the Tigers now have the perfect complement to Jones, a versatile back who possesses both power and speed and boasts scholarship offers from schools such as Auburn, Florida and Pittsburgh. Presley is another nice player who is poised for a big season. The returning starter has a lively arm and is among the area's fastest quarterbacks. On defense, McCray, a Florida State commitment, is one of Florida's most dominating defensive linemen. But he isn't the Tigers' only high-caliber player. Coleman and Reid might very well end up playing at Division I-A programs.
Audibles: "I definitely think we'll have a better year than last year. The guys have really worked hard in the offseason, and they seem to have an up-tempo beat." - Hubbard
Did you know?: During Hubbard's stint as coach, the Tigers typically have had about 45 players on the squad. This spring, close to 60 were on the roster.
Schedule: Aug. 24: Gibbs (kickoff classic); Aug. 31: at Brandon; Sept. 7: Chamberlain; Sept. 14: Plant; Sept. 21: at Hillsborough; Sept. 28: Blake; Oct. 5: Open; Oct. 12: at Wharton; Oct. 18: at Freedom; Oct. 26: Tampa Bay Tech; Nov. 2: Armwood; Nov. 9: at Jefferson
