Get help with evacuation plan for seniors
By TIMES WIRES

NEW PORT RICHEY
Got an evacuation plan? If you're a senior - and particularly, if you're a caregiver or someone needing special care - the Alzheimer's Family Organization has a couple of grants to help. Upon request, organization volunteer Sandy Knapp will make house calls to review hurricane evacuation procedures and gather information on elderly or infirm residents who would need to stay in a "special needs" shelter. The information would be forwarded to Pasco County Emergency Management, which can provide transportation for special needs residents during an evacuation. This effort is made possible by a $2, 000 grant from the Pasco Aging Network and a $2, 000 grant from National Faith-In-Action Network. To sign up for the program, call (727) 848-8888 in west Pasco or toll-free 1-888-496-8004 in central and east Pasco.
New video games donated to library
Itching to try your hand at some new games? The Hudson Regional Library is getting a Wii Nintendo console with Wii Sports installed, along with Madden NFL '07, Call of Duty 3 and Need for Speed CARBON. The game system and games, valued at $415, will be used for the library's gaming nights and teen lock-in events, as well as other youth programming. No, these aren't your tax dollars at work. The console and games are being donated by Linda Allen, director of Pasco libraries, who is big on the library system's motto that "Books are just the beginning."
