Grants to provide evacuation help

Got an evacuation plan? If you're a senior - and particularly, if you're a caregiver or someone needing special care - the Alzheimer's Family Organization has two grants to help. Upon request, organization volunteer Sandy Knapp will make house calls to review hurricane evacuation procedures and gather information on elderly or infirm residents who would need to stay in a special needs shelter. The information would be forwarded to Pasco County Emergency Management, which can provide transportation for special needs residents during an evacuation. This effort is made possible by a $2, 000 grant from the Pasco Aging Network and a $2, 000 grant from National Faith-In-Action Network. To sign up for the program, call (727) 848-8888 in west Pasco or toll-free 1-888-496-8004 in central and east Pasco.
