SUN CITY CENTER - A Kings Point resident who was pulled from an early morning fire in his home Monday later died from his injuries.
Joseph Jacobs, 60, was carried out of his home by firefighters and flown to Tampa General Hospital, the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office said.
He later died at the hospital, officials there said.
The fire started shortly after 4 a.m. at 1802 Bedford Lane, Apartment 23A, according to Hillsborough County Fire Rescue.
The fire was confined to Jacobs' unit and remained under investigation late Monday, but its cause did not appear to be suspicious, fire training Capt. Bill Watson said.
Neighbor Ron Fredericks, who lives a few doors down in the Kings Point condominium complex, said most of the nearby residents slept through the fire.
He said a lot of neighbors didn't know Jacobs well because he kept to himself.
