Oh, no, not again
Published May 23, 2007
Kelly Jean Moffitt stood out with her loud, uncontrolled sobbing Monday night while listening to DUI victims share their pain. A judge ordered her to attend the forum as punishment for her seventh DUI. Nine minutes after the forum ended, Tampa police stopped Moffitt, 29, for a broken headlight. The officer noticed she seemed drunk. She gave a false name and refused to submit to a blood-alcohol test, police said.

Let me guess her next defense in court. I was abused as a child, My father beat me, and I was forced at a young age to be a prostitute. All sounds familiar doesnt it? Why dont they strap the Judge to her front bumper, see how he feels then!

Probably an alcoholic who can't admit she has a serious problem. Someone is going to get killed if this woman isn't put away.

As a former drinker, this makes perfect, and tragic sense to me. Anything shameful and scary will require a drunk to drink. It is the only way an active drunk knows how to cope.

She was close to home when they picked her up b/c her address is a Harbour Island address. It's obvious this woman has a severe drinking problem and needs help. What is the system waiting for? Her to kill someone?!?

Whatever happened to 3 strikes? I know a woman who was required to surrender her license on the spot when she got her third, or risk life behind bars. How is it possible this woman has gotten EIGHT strikes and isn't in jail???!!!

What is this criminal doing out of jail? When are we going to realize that people drive regardless of revoked or suspended licenses. When are we going to start confiscating the cars - "driving" is in the name of the crime.

ms. Moffitt is no doubt an alcoholic with a deep seated emotional trauma fueling her alcoholism. She needs to be entered into a mandatory lockdown physical and mental rehab facillity. jail time alone wont help her.

How do people like this get automobiles? There are too many cars in America, and people are getting killed because of them.....
I know, sounds stupid. I guess I slipped into the same logic used for guns.

The poor lady is suffering from alcoholism. She is not a criminal, she is suffering from a disease. She should be getting treatment, not punishment. Putting this poor woman in jail is absolutely unconscionable. She should be in rehab.

The only way to keep someone off the road that dosen't have a license is to put them in jail! HOW can they be stopped? they can't! There will always be someone to sell a car to someone without a license & someone to lend their car. Build more jails!

Get this woman off the streets! She needs to be in jail. For a long time. She obviously has no respect for the law or others. Judges who pass the buck and are too lenient are what's wrong with our judicial system. Put her away!

How is it this person still has a license or does she? I thought after the third DUI your license was permanently revoked. Throw her in the slammer and lock away the key because I don't want to be on the road with this idiotic woman.
