2 clear first hurdle for children's board
A Port Richey businessman and the director of a private, for-profit tutoring firm in Spring Hill won preliminary approval Tuesday for membership on the board of the Pasco Hernando Early Learning Coalition. Steve Davis, owner of All Clean, and Nicole Miller, executive director of Sylvan Learning Center, will be forwarded for a board vote when it meets May 30. The board's executive committee reviewed six applications, but Davis and Miller were the only two who had submitted the required recommendations from their respective chambers of commerce. The others can still be approved if they submit paperwork; the coalition is allowed to have as many as 35 members. Board Chairwoman Lisa Hammond said the board, which is required to have a minimum 18 members, needs to grow given the challenges the group has faced since the merger two years ago.
