Dixie Hollins coach Mike Morey had been waiting for a chance to beat a team from Manatee or Sarasota County. He finally got it. The Rebels knocked off host Sarasota 21-14. It was the third time this spring a Pinellas County team has gone across the Sunshine Skyway and come back with a win. Last week, Largo defeated Sarasota Riverview and Dunedin beat Bradenton Southeast. "It's been a long time coming, " Morey said. Dixie Hollins set the tone early, marching 70 yards on a nine-play drive that was capped by Josh Brown's 15-yard pass to Jaron Cole for a touchdown. In the second half, the Rebels scored on runs of 6 yards by James Worthen and 5 yards by Jermeil Douse. Dixie Hollins' Chris Sanborn and Ja-Far Fortt helped prevent the Sailors from recording a first down in the first half. Bob Putnam can be reached at putnam@sptimes.com or 727 445-4169.
