Brian P. Murray was commissioned as a 2nd lieutenant in the Air Force on May 4, and completed a four-year program at the University of South Florida. He will begin his Air Force career at Goodfellow Air Force Base in San Angelo, Texas.

On May 5, Murray graduated magna cum laude from USF with a degree in political science.

He is the son of Bob and Terri Murray of Largo, and a 2003 graduate of Pinellas Park High School.

Air Force 2nd Lt. Thomas A. Cantillo IV graduated from Specialized Undergraduate Pilot Training at Columbus Air Force Base, Miss., earning silver wings with an aeronautical rating of pilot in the Air Force.

Cantillo is the son of Jacque and stepson of Todd K. Allen of Palm Harbor.

His father and stepmother are Thomas A. and Mary Cantillo of Sarasota.

Cantillo's wife, Alexis, is the daughter of Steve L. and Paula A. Dangler of Safety Harbor.

Cantillo is a 2001 graduate of Countryside High School in Clearwater.

He received a bachelor's degree in 2005 from the U.S. Air Force Academy in Colorado Springs, Colo.

Army Pvt. Michael T. Long graduated from Basic Combat Training at Fort Knox, Ky.

During the nine weeks of training, Long received instruction in drill and ceremony, weapons, rifle marksmanship and bayonet training, chemical warfare, field training and tactical exercises, armed and unarmed combat, military courtesy, military justice, physical fitness, first aid, and Army history, traditions and core values.

Long is the son of Susan Long of Tarpon Springs and is a 2002 graduate of Tarpon Springs High School.
