Cadet First Class Kevan P. Hanson, son of Paul and Patricia Hanson of St. Petersburg, has graduated from the U.S. Coast Guard Academy, New London, Conn., with a bachelor of science degree in mechanical engineering. His first assignment will be as a pilot in training at flight school in Pensacola. He is a 2003 graduate of Boca Ciega High School.

Army Pvt. Sharon E. Nastir, granddaughter of James Bennett of Kenneth City, has graduated from basic combat training at Fort Jackson, Columbia, S.C.

Cadet Blake Taylor Safko, son of Kenneth M. Safko of St. Petersburg, has graduated from The Citadel, the Military College of South Carolina, in Charleston, with a bachelor's degree in political science. He is a 2003 graduate of Boca Ciega High School.

These recruits have graduated from basic military training at Lackland Air Force Base, San Antonio, Texas:

Air Force Airman 1st Class Adrienne J. Dorsey, daughter of Yolanda Daniels of St. Petersburg and a 2006 graduate of Gibbs High School.

Air Force Airman Stephen M. Kellams, son of Gail Kellams of St. Petersburg and a 2004 graduate of Osceola High School.
