Go sailing to raise money for nonprofit

The nonprofit organization Sailability Greater Tampa Bay will celebrate its sixth anniversary at 10 a.m. today with $10 sailing and boat rides at the Clearwater Community Sailing Center, 1001 Gulf Blvd. The money will go to upkeep and to the organization, which provides services to people of all abilities, including veterans and Special Olympians. Going boating? Learn to be safe

Two groups offer safe boating instruction starting next week:

- A program for power boaters and sailors will be from 7 to 9 p.m. starting Monday at the Clearwater Sail & Power Squadron building, 100 Cleveland St., Clearwater. The program is on Mondays and Wednesdays through June 18. The program covers Florida boating laws, rules of the road, navigation, safety equipment, basic knots, radio use and more. Cost is $40 for course manual and materials. Call 441-8775.

- The Coast Guard Auxiliary 11-9 will offer a program starting 7:30 to 9:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Coast Guard Auxiliary Building at the Landings Marina, 23 Oscar Hill Road, Tarpon Springs. The program is on Tuesdays and Thursdays until June 26. Cost is $50 and includes all materials. Call 938-8568.

Art center offers needle felting

Need a darn thing to do? Golf tournament helps scholarships

Help young men and women understand the dangers of drugs and alcohol and to make the right choice at the Sean Davidson Memorial Golf Tournament at 12:30 p.m. today at Lansbrook Golf Club, 4605 Village Center Drive. Cost is $75 each golfer. Proceeds support the Sean Davidson Memorial Fund, which provides college scholarships to football players with leadership qualities at East Lake High School. Call 784-7333.
