ZEPHYRHILLS

Several police agencies joined forces this weekend and arrested 10 men on charges of soliciting prostitution, a misdemeanor.

Zephyrhills police Sgt. Rob Perrault said prostitution is a growing problem, particularly on the south side of the city. On Friday night, officers set up an operation with undercover officers posing as prostitutes. The 10 men arrested, ages 31 through 69, were charged at the scene and released.

HUDSON

Homeless man breaks in, batters woman

A homeless man broke into a 28-year-old woman's house Sunday, hit her in the head with a glass object, knocked her to the floor, kicked her repeatedly, sexually battered her with an aluminum baseball bat and then told her not to tell anyone or he would hurt her child, authorities said.

Roy Loren Miller, 47, who has no listed address, was arrested by Pasco County sheriff's deputies early Monday morning and charged with burglary, simple battery, aggravated battery and sexual battery. He was held without bail at the Land O'Lakes jail.

Sheriff's spokesman Doug Tobin said Miller was not a stranger to the victim.

HOLIDAY

Masked men invade home, take purse

Two men with black scarves around their faces invaded a 43-year-old woman's home about 11 p.m. Sunday, according to the Pasco County Sheriff's Office.

One of them grabbed her by the hair and held a metal pipe to her throat. The other took her purse, keys, cosmetic bag and several pieces of jewelry.

They fled, chased by a sheriff's dog and aircraft, and they got away.

Re: "..Several police agencies joined forces this weekend and arrested 10 men for soliciting prostitutes..." It's a waste. To enhance public safety, license prostitutes, incl medical checkups, and send the police after REAL crime.
