Oldsmar Mayor Jim Ronecker successfully underwent surgery Wednesday to remove a gallstone.

The 42-year-old mayor said he became ill Sunday when he started feeling "extreme pain" on his right side near the base of his ribs. After presiding over a three-hour City Council meeting Tuesday night, Ronecker said he wasn't nervous, only hungry, as he faced the outpatient laparoscopic procedure at Mease Countryside Hospital.

On Wednesday, Debbie Gartland, office manager at On Demand Printing, a company Ronecker owns, said the mayor had pulled through the surgery "just fine." He plans to be back at work Monday.
