Art with a tropical theme: An exhibit of acrylic paintings with vibrant colors and tropical themes by Florida artist Shelia Blow opens with a reception from 6 to 8 p.m. today at Art on the Docks, 735 Dodecanese Blvd., on the Sponge Docks in Tarpon Springs. The show continues through July 22. Gallery hours are 10:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. Thursday through Monday, closed Tuesday and Wednesday. Free. Call (727) 943-9298.

Run/walk/bike in Dunedin parks: Join in the fun of Dunedin Recreation's "It Starts in the Park" Trail Series, a noncompetitive family trail event Saturday for people of all ages, pets on leashes and children on bicycles. There are seven trails in Hammock and Highlander parks, and courses will be clearly marked. Come as a single person or as a team. Entry fees are $5 adults, $3 children age 7 and younger, and $42 for each team with up to seven members. Participants can register any time between 8 a.m. and noon. Proceeds support Hammock Park. Mendel & Moses at Royalty Theatre: Performances of the musical Mendel & Moses will be at 3 p.m. and 8 p.m. Saturday and 3 p.m. Sunday. Jeremiah Ginsberg, who wrote the music and lyrics and directed the production, will appear as Mendel Moskowitz of Brooklyn, N.Y., who goes back in time to ancient Egypt for an uproarious adventure with the Pharaoh, played by Giorgio Aristo, and Moses, played by Stephen White. Opera in the gallery: A free movie of Verdi's comic masterpiece Falstaff will be shown at 1:30 p.m. Sunday in the auditorium of the Leepa-Rattner Museum of Art. The film stars Gabriel Bacquier as Falstaff with the Vienna Philharmonic under the direction of Sir Georg Solti. The three-act opera is based on Shakespeare's Merry Wives of Windsor. The museum is at 600 Klosterman Road on the Tarpon Springs campus of St. Petersburg College. The program is sponsored by the museum and the Pinellas Opera League. Call (727) 712-5210.

Seminole Nation exhibit at museum: Tribal items, artifacts, patchwork clothing, dolls and baskets are among the items on display in the "Seminole Nation" exhibit this month at the Safety Harbor Museum of Regional History, 329 S Bayshore Blvd. Hours are 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday and 1 to 5 p.m. Sunday. Two quilt exhibitions: The Dunedin Fine Art Center is presenting the winning works from an international competition of quilters who used the traditional Rose of Sharon block pattern, and a second exhibit of local quilters who created self-portraits in fabric.
