BROOKSVILLE

A New Generation: 134 E Fort Dade Ave., provides free pregnancy tests, adoption information and support, post-abortion counseling and abstinence education. Needed: cash, baby items, disposable diapers, wipes, clothing and volunteers. Formerly known as A Women's Resource Center. Call 544-0911.

ARC Nature Coast: 5283 Neff Lake Road, provides support and services to citizens with disabilities. Needed: Three-wheel bicycle, computers (2004 or newer) for the Community CAFE, outdoor recreation items for group homes (such as badmintons and croquet sets), scrubs (new or used), arts and crafts supplies, tickets to sporting events, volunteers, tack items and grooming, food, hay and any horse-related items, and household furnishings. Brooksville Daystar Life Center: 7120 Hope Hill Road (just south of St. Anthony's church), provides food, clothing and some emergency utilities assistance to families in need. Needed: non-perishable food, soups, canned meats, canned fruits and vegetables, paper products, diapers (all sizes) and cash donations. They also need items to sell at their weekly garage sale, proceeds from which buy food supplies. Call 799-5930.

Hernando County Foster Parent Association: This is a nonprofit organization that provides field trips and activities for foster children. P.O. Box 15195, Spring Hill, FL 34609. Needs school supplies, diapers (all sizes), clothing and monetary donations. Call 754-0377.

Hernando Education For Adult Readers In Training: 801 N Broad St. Needed: volunteers to be tutors, student referrals, space for a literacy program and cash. Call 797-7018.

Jericho Road Ministries Inc.: 1090 Mondon Hill Road, provides a residential program for homeless men. Needed: food, paper goods, phone cards, used eyeglasses, coffee, oil, milk, butter, laundry soap, dish soap. Volunteers and donations for the two thrift shops (16479 Wiscon Road and 15319 Cortez Blvd.) are needed. Call (352) 799-2912.

The Lighthouse For The Visually Impaired And Blind Inc.: 6492 California St. Dependable drivers are needed to transport visually impaired and blind adults to weekly classes using Lighthouse vans. Call 754-1132.

Mid-Florida Community Services: 820 Kennedy Blvd., provides food, rent and utility assistance to low-income and elderly people when funding is available. Needed: cash, canned goods of all varieties, pastas, rice, personal hygiene items, paper goods, detergents, beans, baby formula, baby food and disposable diapers (all sizes). Call 796-1425.

Reins of Hope: 22300 Hayman Road, Brooksville, offers a therapeutic riding program for those challenged by physical, mental and emotional disabilities. Boarding, lessons and trail rides are offered. Volunteers are needed. Call 799-HOPE (4673).

Youth And Family Alternatives Inc.: 18377 Clinton Blvd., provides short-term residential care and outpatient counseling for runaway and homeless youth. Needed: volunteers for a variety of needs, sports equipment, teen clothing and shoes, school and supplies, PG-13 videos, personal hygiene supplies, age-appropriate reading materials, digital and video cameras, twin bed sheets, gardening supplies and plants, picnic tables and benches. Baby Love Crisis Pregnancy Center: (Mariner Plaza) 2107 Mariner Blvd., provides free pregnancy tests, supplies, adoption referrals and housing assistance. Needed: cribs, bassinets, port-a-cribs, infant clothing, formula, baby wipes, disposable diapers (all sizes), personal hygiene items, volunteers and cash donations. Call 683-8217.

"The Beautiful Mind" Consumer-Run Drop In Center: 10554 Spring Hill Drive, provides support groups, employment skills training, basic educational and computer training and social activities for the mentally ill. Needed: volunteers, drivers, folding tables and chairs, copy paper, paper plates, hot and cold cups, napkins, plastic utensils, tablecloths, soda, coffee, snacks and gift certificates. Dawn Center Of Hernando County (Rape Crisis and Spouse Abuse): 5429 Commercial Way, provides counseling, housing, advocacy and support to victims of violence. Needed: volunteers to answer phones, to transport clients and to offer life skills programs, cleaning supplies and paper goods, new white sheets and towels, phone cards, and gift certificates.
