On the nightstand

Tim Jennings, an assistant pastor at First Baptist Church of Indian Rocks, attended the Rev. Jerry Falwell's funeral in Lynchburg, Va., on May 22. "It was the ultimate reunion of pastors together in one place, all inspired by Jerry, " said Jennings, who grew up as a member of Falwell's Thomas Road Baptist Church in Lynchburg. What's on your nightstand? Blue Like Jazz: Nonreligious Thoughts on Christian Spirituality by Donald Miller and Velvet Elvis: Repainting the Christian Faith by Rob Bell. I recommend both authors. What makes them good reads? I look for authors that provide inspiration in an out-of-the-box sort of way. Of course, I have the Bible on my nightstand, too.
