Spectacular spring crop

Of all the photo shoots we put together this school year for our all-county packages, this one was the easiest. And the hardest. First we had to scrap the original plan, which we will unleash on you next time. Trying to bring together nine busy kids with busy summer schedules is no small feat. In fact, we only got six to show up at East Lake Park in Land O'Lakes - weightlifter John Reubens was out of town, softballer Ashley Stager was registering for classes at FSU, and tennis player Tyler Brown moved. That's right. Moved. But the six who showed up did so on time, and thanks to their smiling faces and the culinary skills of a certain writer with the initials JCC, food and fun was had by all. It's hard not to have fun when Sederrik Cunningham is around - though the Swim at Your Own Risk sign seemed to spook him - and Geoff Parker was a sport to eat six hot dogs during shooting. Okay, kidding (it was only two ...that we know of.) We think in the 90 minutes or so we managed to convince Jasmine Pleasant that she keep running track right into college, and Yumi Hasegawa is actually quite nice once you get that tennis racket out of her hand. Colena Lazar showed off her right hand, which no longer has a cast on it, and by the way, did you know Ben Koenigsfeld is Pitcher of the Year and class valedictorian? Dang! What a spring class of athletes. But guess what? Look at the photo. Summer time, people. Now get out of your houses and go have fun. We're out.
