The lowdown down under

It's not that all Australian wines taste alike. But it's a big country and the geography gets confusing. And the seasons are upside down from ours. Besides, it's always warm, so who cares? Not so fast, mate. Some parts of Oz get quite cool (Tasmania) and others very warm (Riverland). Vintages differ widely according to a handy pocket guide from Wine Australia, but we can simplify it for you: - In this century there has been a good string of wines since 2002. - If you want to be picky, remember 2002. That year reds and whites in every region were at the top of their game.
