Gov. Charlie Crist will be the special guest June 23 when officials unveil the governor's portrait at the Museum of History, 335 Second Ave. NE.

The public is invited to the free 4 p.m. event, which also will offer an introduction to the museum's oral history project.

Crist's portrait will be permanently displayed in the museum's lobby.

The unveiling is the first of two museum events June 23.

Barbecue on the Bayou, a fund-raiser, is 6 to 9 p.m. at the Rutland/Farley Estate, 5030 Sunrise Drive S.

Tickets are $75 per person, with proceeds benefiting the museum's education and operations department. A band will provide the music, and Lee Roy Selmon's restaurant will cater.

For information on either event, call the museum at 894-1052, ext. 200, or visit www.spmoh.org.
