Clearwater man, 82, found safe

An 82-year-old Clearwater man who walked away from an assisted living facility Monday morning was found safe early Tuesday evening, officials said. Harold G. Wening had been staying with someone who took care of him not too far from where he was reported missing, police said. Wenig left the Summerville at Beckett Lake Lodge assisted living facility at 2155 Montclair Road about 8 a.m. Monday without his medication. Wenig, who suffers from Alzheimer's disease and dementia, had been last seen walking south on Hercules Avenue near the Frank Tack baseball complex - with the help of an aluminum walker. During a second day of searching Tuesday, police had used a helicopter and patrol cars to look for Wening. After he was found, police said he was in good health and good spirits.
