Can collector dies of injuries

WIMAUMA - A man in his 60s who tried to walk under a semitrailer truck was run over and later died of his injuries Thursday. The accident occurred about 11 a.m. on Railroad Street just south of State Road 674 after truck driver Julio Polanco made a delivery to the Wimauma Supermarket, Polanco and the Sheriff's Office said. The man, whose identity was not released, had apparently been in the parking lot picking up cans. As Polanco, 42, started driving the truck away, the man tried to run under the trailer, the Sheriff's Office said. The man died at Tampa General Hospital.

 

Teens jailed in burglaries

WESLEY CHAPEL - Two teens were arrested and charged with vehicle burglary after 10 cars in a Wesley Chapel neighborhood were broken into early Wednesday morning. The Pasco County Sheriff's Office thinks the teens might be responsible for 35 other recent car burglaries. A witness said the pair rummaged through several unlocked cars in Meadow Pointe I about 4 a.m. Wednesday. Officers arrested Tyler Mark Humphrey, 19, and Ryan Oscar Disgdiertt, 18. They were being held at the Land O'Lakes jail.

 

2 men charged in robbery

ST. PETERSBURG - Pinellas County detectives arrested two suspects Wednesday afternoon on charges of armed robbery. The robbery occurred on May 18 at the Little Food Mart convenience store, located at 3085 54th Avenue N in St. Petersburg. Police say Taquana Cooper, 21, came into the store first with a handgun, ordering a customer to the floor and demanding cash and lottery tickets from the clerk. Then, police say, Kendall Wheelings, also 21, entered and held another bystander at gunpoint. It's unclear how much money and tickets were stolen.
