DADE CITY - One driver could face criminal charges in a three-vehicle crash early Saturday that left a second driver dead and authorities searching for a third driver who fled the accident scene on U.S. 301.
Jason Hamilton, 23, of 37221 Oak Court in Dade City, died at the scene of the 2:37 a.m. crash near DeRosier Road, according to a Florida Highway Patrol report.
His mother was told of his death by troopers there on the road.
The FHP said it is waiting for blood-alcohol results from 32-year-old Heather Dison before deciding whether to make an arrest in the fatal crash.
Dison, of 4928 18th St. in Zephyrhills, was driving her 2006 GMC vehicle north in the inside southbound lane, the report said, headed the wrong way.
Her vehicle's front left end struck the front left of Hamilton's 1979 Cadillac Eldorado, the report said. Both cars left the road, and Dison's overturned.
Then a southbound 1994 Buick behind Hamilton's car swerved between the two crashed vehicles, left the road, struck a utility pole and rolled over, according to the FHP.
The driver of the Buick, identified as Cederic Washington, of 37207 Main St. in Dade City, then ran from the scene. Troopers are looking for him.
Dison was taken to a Tampa hospital and was in stable condition Saturday, the FHP said.
A passenger in Hamilton's car, Jeremy Jenkins, 27, was also hospitalized but his condition was not known Saturday.

I have not forgotten the boyish smile and laugh he had. I will not forget Jason because he treated every one with respect, and I promise Jason that I will not stop fighting for him until justice is served, and Mrs, Dison answers for this crime. R.I.P

What type of world is this when we can kill someone and walk away free. Dison deserves to go to jail. Jason life should not be a life that was lost to a drunk driver and not be heard with extreme madness. The community is tired of being left behind.

Dison should not be set free are able to go home to her family and rest as if she has done nothing. I can not believe that no one has spoke with the family or told the community what is going on with this violent act that has taken place. "Justice"

After reading about this young mans lost. My family was astonished to discover how the system has let another young male life be lost with a word of justices. Who cares if he was white or black justice should still be served for this young man.

It is sad to say that nothing will be done to Dison. It is just another black male life that is lost. The system has always been unfair for the black community. The media did not even speak with the family of Mr. Hamilton only if he was white.

Dison was coming out of the Moose Lodge drunk at 2:30am. The Moose Lodge is just as responsible for this as well as Dison, and actions should be brought against the both of them. I pray that both the Moose Lodge and Dison get what they deserve. R.I.P

My heart goes out to all the family and friends affected by the lost. I am praying that God keeps a hedge of protection around all the young people as they grieve this lost. "Lean not to your own understanding"

I've only had just a few encounters with Jason, the victim. But in just those few encounters, Jason always left me laughing. He was a lovely spirit with a great sense of humor. My condolences goes out to all affected by this senseless tragedy.

I heard that Jeremy is gonna have to have his leg amputated as well. So this woman took one man's life and changed another man's life forever. She needs to be prosecuted to the fullest whether she was drunk or not.

Sounds like speed was involved. As many people killed on US roads, when will we slow up and live?? Media should report a total fatalities of US as they are Iraq. We're killing each other because we're in a hurry??? What's wrong with our thinking?
