Woman charged with DUI in crash

TAMPA - An accident near the University of South Florida Saturday morning critically injured a 62-year-old man and sent a 28-year-old woman to jail.

Kimberly Annmarie Isaacs of 12750 N 57th Street in Tampa was charged with driving under the influence in an accident with serious bodily injury.

Tampa police said Isaacs drove her 2000 Infinity into the rear of a 1998 Isuzu Rodeo driven by Khalid Mahmud, also of Tampa.

Mahmud, who was headed east on Fowler Avenue, was stopped at the traffic light at E Fowler and McKinley Drive at 6:20 a.m. Police say that's when Isaacs' car hit his from the rear, forcing it into the back of a pickup truck that was also stopped at the light.

Mahmud was taken to Tampa General Hospital with serious head injuries. He was listed in critical condition late Saturday.

The driver of the pickup was not injured.

According to a criminal arrest affidavit, Isaacs' eyes were glassy and bloodshot at the time of the arrest, and her speech was slurred.

Her blood-alcohol level was 0.159, nearly twice the legal limit for impairment.

Jail records list Isaacs' occupation as a recruiter for Kforce Professional Staffing.

Isaacs was taken to the Hillsborough County Jail, where she remained late Saturday in lieu of $2, 000 bond.
