Free confidential testing for HIV at hip-hop event

FREE CONFIDENTIAL TESTING FOR HIV AT HIP-HOP EVENT
The Hernando County Health Department and local businessmen Mark Sabadishin and Rob Starz will host Hip-Hop HIV/AIDS Awareness Night at 9 p.m. June 30 at Saints and Sinners Lounge, 11060 Spring Hill Drive. The lounge will provide hip-hop music by DJ Risk.
Free, anonymous and confidential HIV testing using the Orasure test kit will be provided; this test does not require drawing blood. Certified HIV/AIDS educators Joan Felix-Sepulveda and Laura Dunn administer the tests and give information. Results are generally available within two weeks. RIDGE MANOR
Community barbecue to benefit ministries
Ridge Manor United Methodist Church will host a communitywide barbecue at noon July 1 at the church, 34350 Cortez Blvd.
The menu will include barbecued chicken, baked beans, rice pilaf, coleslaw, rolls, fresh-brewed iced tea and homemade desserts.
Tickets are $6.50 for adults and $3.50 for children. Takeout orders will be available. Funds raised will benefit the adult and youth ministries.

Citizens Insurance hosts forum June 26
Citizens Property Insurance Corp., along with State Sen. Mike Fasano and State Rep. John Legg, will host a public forum to discuss recent changes to homeowners insurance law as well as new optional sinkhole coverage.
The meeting will be 4 to 8 p.m. June 26 at Spartan Manor, 6121 Massachusetts Ave.
Issues of interest to non-Citizens policyholders will be discussed as well. Public testimony and questions will be taken. A Citizens representative will address rate changes, eligibility changes and optional sinkhole coverage. Fasano and Legg will be available to discuss legislative issues.
