Workshops help couples manage life's surprises

Learning to make a marriage work can be hard, but the nonprofit group Family Resources offers workshops this month and in July designed to help couples build the foundation for a successful relationship. This workshop helps couples focus on factors they can control and offers tools to safely and effectively manage life's surprises. It is being offered:

-8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. June 30 at Maximo Presbyterian Church, 3200 58th Ave. S, St. Petersburg.

-6 to 8 p.m. June 29, July 12 and July 19 at Family Resources, 5180 62nd Ave. N, Pinellas Park.

-8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. July 28 at Family Resources in Pinellas Park.

To register or for more information, call Cindy Haseman at 528-5776 or visit www.youandme-we.org. For more information on Family Resources, visit www.family-resources.org.

Volunteers needed in mentoring program

Gulf Coast Community Care needs volunteers age 30 and older for its mentoring program.

Volunteers are matched with children who need a positive adult role model.

There is a need for volunteers for children of all ages. No experience is necessary, and there are no costs.

Volunteers spend a few hours a week in activities such as reading, fishing, baking, teaching a craft or visiting a park. Call 479-1841 or 479-1825.
