I wasn't comfortable with this article until one month after moving into a similar neighborhood, I walked out my back door found a black young man sitting in my car rummaging through my belongings to steal something. Then I felt she might be right.

I have been robbed by people from several different races but mostly by my own greedy reletives. I marched in Memphis, TN and was appalled most by the black on black crimes. I live in a basically black housing, neighborhood, town. King died in vain.

I am black and I never have done any of the things that were listed. My parents raised me to be repectful and work for what I need to have in life. There is good and bad in every race and that should have more focus and more of our time.

I lived in a black neighborhood for 18 months, in which I had my car window shattered, a house window broken and CDs stolen. One evening, while at a stop sign after working a 14 hour shift, I was robbed at gunpoint. So yes, I understand.

Blacks commit most of the violent crimes but they're 12% or so of the population. And they don't commit crimes because they're poor, they're poor for the same reason they commit crimes (as Col. Sanders said).

I had a similar experience when living in/near Harlem while attending Columbia. One of my friends was mugged at gunpoint, another had her laptop stolen. The school posted flyers identifying the suspects - always a black male in his teens or 20s.

When you start living in "mixed" company trouble is bound to come. Diffrent races for the most part have diffrent views on how to live and behave.I prefer to live around my own kind it seems to be safer that way.

You can't blame whites for having an opinion on the apparent lack of morals alot of black people appear to have. Especially when it pervades places that were very good places before they came, its shocking that Fisher-Lee sees theivery as normal.

It's simple. She shouldn't have written about her problems. Just carry a little Smith and Weston insurance for protection of life and property!

I think this woman at least has the integrity not to hide behind a PC cover. Also I'd be willing to bet she believes in equality for all races, and I'm pretty sure racists don't. I think this is a socioeconomic thing being blamed on race.

No apology needed... for me its the truth of what happens when blacks move into a neighborhood. Crime goes up, the yards and houses go into disrepair, all the while the blaring Gangsta Rap that proclaims they are proud n*****s,I wonder why?

You need to ask why there is a disproportional amount of blacks that end up on the wrong side of the law. Clearly it isn't skin tones, it's attitude to life and lack of respect for themselves and others. The big question is, why?

Her feelings aren't new to me, only reversed. I'm a Black male, from Bahamas. I came to FLA in 96, I bought my home in Holiday. My tires were slashed, yard trespassed, and have seen "Hitlers Youth" graffiti on my street. It has changed my view of USA
