Rain upstages all-stars, at least for a day
Inclement weather struck its first blow to the all-star tournament Friday night as rain forced a stoppage to games in all three active divisions at East Point Little League.

MANGO - Inclement weather struck its first blow to the all-star tournament Friday night as rain forced a stoppage to games in all three active divisions at East Point Little League. The delayed games resume today with the start times of scheduled games pushed back.
In Friday's 10-11 baseball division, the game between East Bay National and Bloomingdale American was called official in the fifth inning with Bloomingdale American winning 3-0. The game was stopped due to lightning.
Bloomingdale American took the early lead in the first inning, scoring two runs - the first on a run-scoring double by Jake Gagain and the second on a Jake Bear single. Bear also got the decision , throwing a one-hit, complete-game shutout (five innings).
BIG BAT: Bloomingdale National's Kevin Harris hit the first home run of the district all-star tournaments in Hillsborough County.
Harris' homer came in the fifth inning Thursday night and contributed to Bloomingdale National's 10-7 win over Pinecrest in the 10-11 baseball division.
NEWS BLOOD: District 13 has a new administrator with Charles Lieble taking over for Gene Will in October.
"I've chased a lifelong dream in little league to get this position, " Lieble said. "And doing in my 30th year in little league has been great."
District 6
TAMPA - District all-star tournaments begin today in the 9-10 baseball and softball brackets, as well as in 10-11 baseball. The 9-10 baseball tournament will be hosted at Bayshore Little League with 9-10 softball played at Palma Ceia and 10-11 baseball at Tampa Bay.
