Would you tell some guy with a lab coat and clipboard how many people you've had sex with? The National Center for Health Statistics, a branch of the Centers for Disease Control, decided it might get better results for its survey on sex activity if people got to answer the questions privately, in a "self interview" with a nonjudgmental computer. Here are some results of a survey of 6, 237 adults, aged 20 to 59 (We only included sex statistics. The drug stats were boring):

7 The median number of female sex partners men claim to have had.

4 The median number of male sex partners women claim to have had.

29 Percent of men who claim to have had more than 15 female partners.

9 Percent of women who claim to have had more than 15 male partners.

96 Percent of adults who say they have had sex.

11 Percent of never-married adults who say they have never had sex.

16 Percent who claim their first experience was before age 16.

15 Percent who claim their first experience was after age 21.

17 Percent of men who claim they have only had one female partner in their life.

25 Percent of women who claim they have only had one male partner in their life.
