Congregational church has first Florida meeting

ST. PETERSBURG

The National Association of Congregational Christian Churches is holding its annual meeting at the Hilton St. Petersburg Bayfront until Tuesday to celebrate freedom of religion and "Sing to the Lord a New Song." Members of the Friendship Community Church will be participating as hosts for the meeting, welcoming fellow Congregationalists to the first Florida meeting. Congregationalists from across the nation will come together to share their gifts. Many sessions have been planned during the four-day meeting including Bible lectures, worship services, missionary gatherings and various learning events. Member churches are autonomous covenantal groups, representative of the Congregational movement, which originated with the Pilgrims. Buddhist meditation program set July 2

There will be a Buddhist meditation evening at Living Room Yoga, 3015 Seventh St. N in St. Petersburg, with Buddhist meditation teacher Angus Berry. The class, titled "The Four Noble Truths, " will present an introduction to meditation from the Kadampa Buddhist tradition. The class will include two guided meditations and a short talk, and is suitable for beginners. Everyone is welcome. The meditation evening will take place from 8 to 9:15 p.m. July 2. There is a suggested donation of $9, $5 for students and those with limited income.

Just what Florida needs, another church. I'm sick of seeing new multi-million dollar facilities being constructed. This makes me wonder if these "Holy People" do anything for anyone else.
