Fort De Soto Instead of a noisy bowling alley or noisier video game hyperfest, the best way for an adult to actually relax at a kid's party, the voters said, is at Fort De Soto, one of the best beaches in the country with sand as soft as flour. Hard to disagree there. Even better, you can reserve a picnic shelter for free at the county-owned Tierra Verde park with great playgrounds and a 1906 military fort that lets kids climb on a cannon or pretend they are in jail. Spend a day there, and you're bound to have as much fun at your kid's birthday party as he or she will. How you voted Fort De Soto Park, Tierra Verde: 40% Lowry Park Zoo, Tampa: 25% Splitsville, Tampa: 25% Florida Aquarium, Tampa: 10% Largo Central Park, Largo: 0% Other: 0%
