Mosby makes most of her limited minutes

In a span of three months, Bernice Mosby has gone from one of the most dominant players in women's college basketball to a reserve languishing on the end of the Washington Mystics' bench.
But the former Hernando star had perhaps the best game of her young WNBA career Tuesday, scoring four points and grabbing six rebounds in a 91-75 win over Connecticut. Mosby, who is averaging 10.9 minutes, 2.7 points and 3.9 rebounds per game, played 14 minutes vs. the Sun.
Here's a look at how some of Hernando County's other professional athletes are faring:
PATRICK RYAN, RP, BREVARD COUNTY MANATEES HIGH CLASS A/MILWAUKEE: Ryan, 24, allowed two runs and picked up his first loss Monday, snapping a 142/3 scoreless innings streak. On the season, he is 2-1 with a 1.47 ERA, 12 strikeouts and two walks in 181/3 innings. Opponents are hitting just .210 against him.
DEE BROWN, OF, HARRISBURG SENATORS (DOUBLE A/WASHINGTON): Brown has struggled to get hits since his call up, going 6-for-38 in 13 games since being promoted from High Class A. He is hitting .158 with one home run and one RBI.
HUEY WHITTAKER, WR, UTAH BLAZE (ARENA FOOTBALL LEAGUE): Whittaker, a former Springstead and USF star, saw his first action of the season in a 47-37 win over Los Angeles on Saturday. Whittaker, 26, caught two passes for 33 yards and a touchdown. The Blaze face the Avengers again Monday in the wild-card round of the AFL playoffs.
BRONSON ARROYO, SP, CINCINNATI REDS (MAJOR LEAGUE BASEBALL): Arroyo, 30, told the Cincinnati Post that getting pushed back in the rotation for a day gave him some much-needed rest. Arroyo allowed 10 hits and picked up the loss in a 3-2 loss to Seattle on Sunday, but said he felt much better than he had in previous outings. Arroyo is 2-9 with a 5.14 ERA. He hasn't won a game since May 6.
BERT SNOW, SP, SHREVEPORT SPORTS (AMERICAN ASSOCIATION/INDEPENDENT: Snow, 30, continues to be one of the better starters in the American Association. He is 2-1 with a 3.35 ERA, 35 strikeouts and 21 walks in 51 innings.
