TPC of Tampa Bay, Lutz

Visit TPC of Tampa Bay, and you will be setting foot upon the course where a legend of golf won his first professional tournament. We speak, of course, of Bill Murray. In February, Murray and his partner Scott Simpson won the amateur portion of the Outback Steakhouse Pro-Am, which takes place on the Lutz course each year. It's fitting that Murray's historic win came there - he comes across as a man of the people, and TPC of Tampa Bay might be the area's finest public course. Built in 1991, the course runs from just over 5, 000 feet from the front tees to nearly 6, 900 from the pro tees, and is full of woody wetlands. A round there won't come cheap - rates peak at $159, but are less than $100 in the summer - but you're guaranteed a great day on an excellent course. But don't take our word for it. "I think it's a golfer's golf course, " Jack Nicklaus said in 2003, the last time he played the course. "You've got to play some pretty good golf here. I enjoy that."
