1 Sicko - Michael Moore (Fahrenheit 9/11) holds a stethoscope to the U.S. health care system and pronounces it terminally corrupt.

2 La Vie en Rose - Marion Cotillard's astounding portrayal of French songbird Edith Piaf is an immediate frontrunner for year-end prizes.

3 Live Free or Die Hard - Yippie-ki-yay. Finally, a sequel that works. Detective John McClane (Bruce Willis) still kicks major butt, even with a PG-13 rating.

4 Surf's Up - First they marched, then they danced, now penguins go surfing in a cleverly animated mockumentary. Definitely more fun than Ratatouille.

5 A Mighty Heart - Angelina Jolie stars as the wife of journalist Daniel Pearl, who was kidnapped and murdered by jihadists in Pakistan.
