A sunset cruise
On May 29, an English couple came to Clearwater to get married on the beach and hold a reception aboard the StarLite Majesty dining yacht. Love must have been in the air that night, because a member of the happy couple's wedding party grabbed the band's microphone and proposed to his girlfriend right there on the ship. "The water always brings a little extra romance to any evening out, I think, " said Phil Henderson Jr., StarLite's president, CEO and occasional captain. "You've got the ever-changing water view, the atmosphere of the cruise, and then live entertainment as well. It's a full package, and it definitely makes for a special way to go out and get engaged." Henderson guesses that between StarLite's two dinner cruises, the company sees about one proposal a week - which is nothing compared to the five to eight weddings the crew performs each week. "People will get engaged onboard, and then turn around and have their wedding and reception on board as well, " Henderson said. "The captains are notary publics, so they're actually licensed to perform the ceremonies." So if she says yes, you know who to call next.
