Jessica Dickson, USF

In Tampa Bay, the conventional wisdom goes, the Buccaneers are king. Try telling that to the USF Bull nation. When we asked readers to vote for Tampa Bay's Ultimate Young Athlete, the choice wasn't Cadillac Williams (25). It wasn't Carl Crawford (25) or Delmon Young (21) of the Devil Rays, nor was it LPGA hotshot Brittany Lincicome (21) of Seminole. It was Jessica Dickson, the 22-year-old star of USF women's basketball. As a junior, Dickson was all-Big East and the nation's third-leading scorer. USF even launched a Web site campaigning for her to be named the National Player of the Year. It didn't happen, but in February, Dickson did set USF's all-time scoring mark for men or women. Since then, Dickson was drafted in the second round by the WNBA's Sacramento Monarchs; traded to the Indiana Fever; cut; picked up by the Houston Comets just before the season; and cut again the following week. She is now back home in Ocala, plotting her return to pro hoops. Whenever she does, she'll have the full support of a nation of Bulls behind her.
