Water district wants ideas for restoration

WEEKI WACHEE
The Southwest Florida Water Management District invites residents to share ideas on potential water resources restoration projects at the Hernando County Task Force meeting from 3 to 5 p.m. Monday at the Weeki Wachee Area Club, 7442 Shoal Line Blvd. The task force will consider potential restoration projects to enhance fish and wildlife habitats in Hernando County, such as shoreline restoration, sand and sediment control or removal and exotic species management. Station to honor fallen firefighters
Spring Hill Fire Rescue Station 2 will host a memorial at 1 p.m. today to honor the nine firefighters killed earlier this month while fighting a blaze at a furniture store in Charleston, S.C. The memorial will be at the station, 3445 Bob Hartung Court. Hernando County firefighters will be the guests of honor. The benediction will be given by the Rev. Jack Martin and the Pledge of Allegiance will be led by Rachael Rodriguez. Speakers include Hernando County commissioners, Hernando County Administrator Gary Kuhl and Spring Hill fire Commissioner Charles Raborn.
Eagle aerie marks the Fourth of July
The Hallcrest Eagles 4497 will host a two-day Fourth of July open house celebration today and Sunday at the aerie at 1391 Kass Circle. An indoor picnic will begin at noon today, with barbecue, hot dogs and hamburgers. The cost is $3 per person. Karaoke will begin at 7 p.m. A flea market will be from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sunday.
