Want to leave the grill duty to someone else this Fourth of July? A number of local groups are holding Independence Day festivities, complete with all the fixins.
The McKay Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 7987 will serve hamburgers, hot dogs, chicken and assorted side dishes at the post home, 7445 Chester McKay Drive in Veterans Village from 2 to 4 p.m. Wednesday. Music by Paul E from 3 to 6 p.m. Suggested donation of $3. Call (727) 376-3502.

The Aripeka Elks Lodge 7987 will serve barbecued pork and assorted side dishes starting at 3 p.m. Wednesday at the lodge, 9135 Denton Ave., Hudson. If you're in the mood for a big festival and don't mind the drive, check out Sparklebration, a two-day event at the Pasco County Fairgrounds on State Road 52 in Dade City. The festivities include kiddie carnival rides (ticket purchase required), an All-American Food Court and Miss Sparklebration pageant, plus the fireworks "extravaganza" at 9:15 p.m. Wednesday.
