Title no challenge for Citrus Park
Citrus Park's 10-11 baseball team outscored opponents 91-1 in the District 6 all-star tournament en route to winning the district championship Friday.

Citrus Park's 10-11 baseball team outscored opponents 91-1 in the District 6 all-star tournament en route to winning the district championship Friday.
In the final, Citrus Park defeated Palma Ceia 21-1 with five home runs. Darren Miller hit two, while Brett Wilcoz, Kevin Merrell and Danny Lastra each provided one homer.
Palma Ceia won the 9-10 softball district championship, defeating Bayshore/West Tampa 14-4 Friday. Pitcher Kasay Wishart earned the win for Palma Ceia, while Caitelin Herrera provided a three-run triple and Kylie Brown hit a run scoring double.
Bayshore/West Tampa forced a second game for the championship in the double-elimination tournament on Thursday beating Palma Ceia 11-1 behind the arm of Sidney Brown, who threw a no-hitter striking out nine. Brown also helped her cause at the plate, going 3-for-3.
More District 6
Bayshore evened the final series in 9-10 baseball, defeating Tampa Bay 13-11 Friday. Bayshore came back from a 9-3 deficit in the fifth inning, led by a three-run home run by Ronnie Ramirez. Ryan Ellis hit a two-run double for Bayshore in the game. Tampa Bay and Bayshore will play again today at 10 a.m. at Bayshore to decide the district championship.
District 13
In 10-11 baseball Bloomingdale National defeated Bloomingdale American 9-7 with a bottom-of-the-sixth, bases-loaded single by Daulton "Catfish" Lucas. National was helped along in the tournament by the pitching of Zack Carter, who had two wins and two saves. Tyler Long hit a bases-loaded, three-run double to provide an early lead for National. For American, Cody Martin had a run scoring double.
Bloomingdale American's Joe Kohl hit a walk-off home run for his team as it defeated South Brandon 2-1 in Friday's opening game of the major baseball division.
