ST. PETERSBURG

They finally got Neighborhood Scoop open, but owners Dan Soronen and Sarah Potter aren't sure they'll be able to enjoy it. They spent the last year building up business at the Old Northeast Tavern, at 201 Seventh Ave. N, and then last week launched an ice cream shop around the corner. Business is strong in both, they say, but they've listed the businesses for sale because each partner has family members with health problems. Potter said they're not being forced to sell, but a handsome offer on the tavern and ice cream shop would help their ailing parents. Soronen said they'll continue to operate the businesses unless they get their $600, 000 asking price.

TREASURE ISLAND

City's wireless service to start

Does logging on from a lounge chair and surfing the Web from the beach sound intriguing? It will be possible in Treasure Island with Citi WiFi Networks' new wireless Internet connection. Citi WiFi high-speed internet goes online Wednesday, covering Gulf Boulevard and the beaches from Caddy's on the Beach to Gator's on John's Pass.

"Anyone with a wireless card in their laptop can log on to the free Citi WiFi network on July 4 and check out a multitude of things to do and places to go on Treasure Island, " said Mike Sheaffer of Citi WiFi Networks, the city's wireless provider.

The landing page contains links to restaurants, things to do, maps and a business directory.

Clarification

Downing's Forge is open and doing business at 13150 S Belcher Road in Largo. An item in Wednesday's paper was not clear about that.
