TOM JONES'
Movie of the day
By TOM JONES
Published July 2, 2007
Movie of the day It's part Sister Act, part Hoosiers, part A League of Their Own and maybe a little Rocky. It's the story of the Mighty Macs of Immaculata College, the all-girls Catholic school outside of Philadelphia that won the first women's national basketball championship in 1972. Our Lady of Victory, being filmed now, stars Ellen Burstyn and Carla Gugino and its makers are hopeful it will be released in the spring. Commercial of the day My new favorite? ESPN's spot with David Ortiz meeting anchor John Buccigross' family and using his trademark "spit into the hands." Check it out: http://sports.espn.go.com/espntv/espnShow?showID=SRDA Your two cents To the Devil Rays, I cannot take this anymore. Please revamp the bullpen. I don't care where the pitchers come from but they have to be better than these guys. Have a fan participation night, you'll probably find at least five quality pitchers, which is better than what we have now in the bullpen. Mark Marland, Largo
