Pasco deputies arrested 52-year-old Nemesio Alonso on Monday after they found more than 150 marijuana plants growing in his garage on Axelrod Way. "That's a pretty good haul, " said Lt. Robert Sullivan, chief of Pasco County sheriff's vice and narcotics unit. To date the county has found only a few marijuana grow houses with more than 100 plants. Deputies acted after a complaint from Withlachochee Electric. Alonso is in the Pasco County jail in Land O'Lakes in lieu of $10, 000 bond. So far this year the county has busted a dozen marijuana grow houses. In 2006 they found less than half that number.

Passenger dies in car collision

A Tarpon Springs man was involved in a car crash Monday that killed a 29-year-old woman, according to the Florida Highway Patrol. Christopher Parks, 51, was driving north on 15th Street SE at the intersection of State Road 674 when he pulled out in front of a vehicle driven by Narciso Medina Jr., 30, troopers reported. A passenger in Medina's car, Christie Gonzalez, was killed. Parks suffered minor injuries. Medina and one of his passengers, Adam Medina, 4, were taken to Tampa General Hospital, where Narciso Medina was in good condition Tuesday. Adam Medina was treated and released.
