JACKSONVILLE - Police believe a man and woman whose bodies were found in a submerged pickup did not see a flashing red warning light on a boat ramp before driving into a creek. The truck driver, Ross Marion Roberts, 20, apparently drove into Julington Creek about 2:45 a.m. Wednesday, said Melissa Bujeda, a spokeswoman for the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office. She said no one saw the accident, but the investigation determined the time of the crash. The truck was discovered about 7 a.m. Wednesday by a boater who hit it about 100 feet out in the river. When the pickup was pulled out of the water, police found Roberts' body and that of his passenger, Ashleigh Nicole Cook, 18, both of Jacksonville.
